Lisa and Joe Hughes's Home Page

Joe Hughes was born in Racine, WI and graduated from Oak Creek (WI) High School in 1978. He received his B.A. in Classics from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1982 and his Ph. D. in Classics from the University of Iowa in 1987. He is currently Professor of Classics at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.

Lisa Gray Hughes was born in Lawrenceburg, TN and graduated from Lawrence County High in 1978. She received her B.A. in English from Middle Tennessee State University in 1982 and her M.A. in English from MTSU in 1986. Formerly an Instructor of English at the former SMSU, Lisa is currently an E-mail Banker at JPMorganChase.

After starting out with two strikes against him, Joe prevailed upon Lisa to marry him at Sacred Heart Parish in Springfield on 23 May 1992. People who know them both believe that Lisa could have done a lot better for herself.

Joe and Lisa's greatest shared interest is traveling. They have been to hell (even spent a night there), and especially like road trips to Civil War battlefields. In addition to the places where these pictures were taken, they have also enjoyed Charleston, SC (where they honeymooned), Gettysburg, PA, and Pensacola Beach, FL. Joe's major hobbies are taking pictures of diesel locomotives and traveling to Russia. Someday, he hopes, he will coax Lisa into going to Russia with him. Lisa enjoys reading history and historical fiction, interior decorating, and mourning Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

On 23 August 2003 they became the adoptive parents of a Beagle/Labrador pup named Eefy Josephine. On July 23, 2005 Eefy was joined in her dogly duties by a roaming Eskimutt Terrier named Yongy Bongy Bo. On March 9, 2008 Anubis Presley (he ain't nothing but a Hound Dog) joined the pack. Becoming puppyherders has cut somewhat into the Hughes family travels, but this annoyance is far outweighed by the joy and love the pupsters have brought into their lives.
