COVRSE OBJECTIVES:
This course is designed as a review of Latin morphology and syntax and as an introduction to the reading of connected Latin prose.
TESTING AND GRADING:
There will be two one-hour examinations (66% total) and several class projects (34% total) In case of a borderline grade, the instructor may (but is not obliged to) consider factors such as superior classroom participation. Students concerned about their course grade should consult the instructor at once. No extra credit work will be assigned or accepted. Letter grades will be assigned as follows:
90-100%= A; 80-89%= B; 70-79%= C; 60-69%= D; 59%-below= F
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students are to show up for every class, on time, with all assignments done and ready to participate in an active learning experience. Since each class meeting is crucial to mastering course material, attendance and participation are crucial. The student is solely responsible for obtaining any handouts or assignments given in a class meeting which he or she has missed. The student has one week after a scheduled exam date to make arrangements for a make-up.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY POLICY:

DROPPING CLASSES AT SMSU:
It is your responsibility to understand SMSU's procedure for dropping a class. If you stop attending this or any other class but do not follow proper procedure for dropping the class, you will receive a failing grade and will also be financially obligated to pay for the class. To drop a class anytime after the first week of classes, you must complete and turn in a drop slip at an authorized registration center (see 2001/2002 SMSU Undergraduate Catalog, p. 49-50; http://www.smsu.edu/recreg/chnsched.html). You do not need to obtain any signatures on the drop slip. The drop slip does not need to be signed by your instructor, your advisor, or a department head. If you wish to withdraw from the University (i.e., drop all your classes), contact the Registration Center, Carrington 320.
